Hints

Some of these hints are from us. Many of them are from your fellow Stumpers.

• If the instructions don't make sense, try solving a few clues. Then, go back to the instructions for more clarification. We're told that this really helps.
• A Stumper, puzzled a bit by the instructions, looked up a couple answers in the back of the book and it all made sense after that.
• Sometimes you have to say the words out loud. You may have the answer and not even know it, until you say it out loud.
• Look up a clue in a dictionary or thesaurus. Many of the clues, especially in the more difficult puzzles, can be cross-referenced in a thesaurus.
• Look up a clue in an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is a great online resource.
