Driving home from church today, we saw a truck that had the words "Be Nice" written in the back window. Words to live by. Simple.
Yup, that's right. Give your friends a break, and take their kids for a day. Take them out for a walk on a nice walking/bike path, take them for a hike. Find a way to introduce them to the beauty of nature. You're getting kids outdoors, and giving friends what we expect is a much needed break.
Before you go, be sure to get the parents' permission!
In life, I tend to make my own tracks. Sometimes following in someone else's footsteps serves a purpose, I'll admit. But usually I have more fun breaking new ground.
Tonight while walking after a big snowstorm, I came to an unshoveled section of sidewalk. I had an option to follow in the footsteps of someone who went before me, or to literally make my own tracks. Silly me, I thought that following the footsteps made more sense. Until I nearly slipped on the ice underneath, in the worn down tracks. I quickly switched and began making a new trail. All is right with the world again.
How do you approach life?
We're about halfway through winter here in New England. Depending on your perspective, it's been either a great winter or a terrible one. We've had LOTS of snow. As far as we're concerned, it's been great. Sure, a little warmer in January would have been nice. But the white wonderland all around us is beautiful.
Ready for warmth? Ready for fresh air? Don't wait for Spring. Strap on a pair of snowshoes and hit the trail. Slip on ice shoes over your sneaks or boots, and head out. You'll be in the fresh air. And trust me, you'll work hard enough to work up a sweat, and you will be warm! The cold air will actually be refreshing. And neither of these activities requires special skill. Once you buy the equipment, the recreation is free!
Find something to do in every season. Make the most of every day. Fill your lungs with air, put a smile on your face. And remember, breathing (fresh air) is underrated!
Yup, you're right. We are really behind (no pun intended!) in our weigh-ins. We're still hovering around 150 (Morsel Chik) and 208 (Morsel Munk). Wahoo! We're going to weigh in at the beginning of every month. Rather than spending all our time on the scale, and writing about it, we're out getting fit. Toodles for now!
150.0 pounds (Morsel Chik); 209.6 pounds (Morsel Munk)
